website google number one in 24hours

Following on from thursday’s post about setting up the SEO for the latest project, im happy to say the Googlebot crawled the site 24 hours after the website went live.

The two main keywords for the Uphair website went straight to the top with a 1st position on one keyword and 14th position on the site’s other initial keyword, a fantastic result after just one day and proof that flash websites can be included on the Google index and compete with more traditional websites with their rich html content.

How did i get it to number 1 on google after 24 hours?

People pay SEO master’s big money to get in this position, here are the 4 main tactics i have emplemented on this website since it went live on Thursday. How i made it to number one in Google within 24 hours:

  • META tags - Because the website was built mostly using flash, its title, description & keyword tags had to play a large role with Google to describe the site. Sticking to relevant keywords with a well written description was key, certain keywords appeared in all 3 of the tags having a good effect on the Google search result position.
  • Quality backlinks - Contacting product suppliers and exchanging website links gained the site 2 known high-quality backlinks as well as half a dozen other backlinks skyrocketing the site straight to the top of Google’s search results. Remember to be careful not to link to poor quality sites which may actually lower your search ratings.
  • Brand your own keywords - There is no point trying to compete with the big boys on certain popular keywords. Do your research on your own unique keywords (with low competition) and advertise your website using those keywords, create enough of an impact and people will soon know exactly how to find you on google. Keep these very relevant to your site.
  • StumbleUpon - After submit’ing a site to StumbleUpon the service sends 15 users to your site immediately, giving them a rough initial rating. If the 15 all vote it thumbs up then your site jumps in perceived quality to the community. Of course if those 15 people all vote thumbs down then your rating on StumbleUpon may suffer. Some people may say StumbleUpon has nothing to do with your sites Google ranking however within 10 minutes from when the initial 15 StumbleUpon users visited my project site the Googlebot crawled the site and listed in under the index, clearly not a coincidence.

Well now it is just a case of optimizing certain other main keywords and the website should obtain higher rankings under these search terms, claiming its piece of the Google pie by receiving users searching these keywords.

I hope these tips help with your own sites SEO. Number 1 (and the equally importantly first page) on the Google search results is achievable for webmaster’s if they follow the right approach, even on a flash built site with almost no html in under 24 hours it can happen. On a wordpress blog with rich content getting to the top should be a sinch!

Getting top dollar from your adsense clicks

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Im sure all of you are well aware how Google Adsense works and just how easy it is to make money from your blog using Adsense for content. However it is essential that as a webmaster you ‘tune’ your Adsense to receive the highest income possible for each time a user clicks on one of your Adsense units, doing so may increase your income more than you might realize.

The first step in gauranteeing you get top dollar for each click is to block those low-paying ads which Google may deem suitable to display on your site. Thankfully adsblacklist.com makes this process easy, with just a few keywords you can generate 200 URL’s which fall into the ‘Made for Adsense’ or ‘Low cost per click’ catagories.

From there Just copy/paste your list into the ‘Competitive Ad Filter ‘ within your Google Adsense setup and Google will now prevent these URL’s from showing in your Adsense. Make sure you have tinyurl.com in your list as this site is used by many LCPC and MFA sites to hide there actual (normally very long) URL, thankfully adsblacklist.com provide the generated lists in alphabetical order so finding tinyurl.com shouldn’t be too difficult.

Hopefully this helps to increase income from your sites Adsense clicks, and should be the first step in eliminating those poorly paying ads. If you don’t already use Google Adsense to make money online, sign up right now.
